Welcome to my cyber conservatory, a glass-walled, tile-floored, plant-filled room overlooking the tiered gardens of my English country manor. OK, I really live in an ordinary house in
Getting ready for the Moonlight & Magnolias conference, better known as M&M, hosted by the Georgia Romance Writers in Atlanta next week. I leave Thursday with friend and critique partner, Cindy Thomason (www.cynthiathomason.com). I've wanted to go to this conference for years now because I've always heard such fabulous things about it, but my hand was absolutely forced this year when Cindy got the call that her Superromance release, Her Sister's Child, has been nominated for the very prestigious GRW Maggie Award. Now, when Cindy and I have attended conferences together in the past, we tended to play a lot of hooky. Yes, I admit it, we are often missing in action, usually to be found rambling about whatever town we're in soaking up the sights. Well, come on, if your choice is going to workshops or trekking through downtown Manhattan, WWYD? But after going over the M&M schedule, I have to say I don't think we'll be cutting out too much, if at all even though this will be my first time in Atlanta. I'm talking an action packed weekend from start to finish, from a presentation by a former CIA agent to a "coffee klatch" with booksellers and librarians. Not to mention the awards ceremony, where I will be a nervous wreck on Cindy's behalf. I really hope she comes home with that Maggie medallion!!! Fingers and toes crossed!
